At the recent Paris Spring/Summer 2017 Couture shows, designers once again successfully extinguished suggestions that such incomprehensibly expensive fashions are out-dated and have no place in today’s society. We will always crave escapism. We will always admire exquisite craftsmanship. Therefore, we will always need couture.
Demonstrating his gifted approach to combining beadwork with soft or sharp tailoring, Giorgio Armani presented us with a citrus toned Privé collection. It’s a cert that one of his brightly hued gowns will be on the Oscar’s red carpet this year. But, I’m particularly a fan of this cinched-at-the-waist trouser suit. I’d pair this rich amber hued jacket with these orange and yellow 1930s glass beads from the Gemma Redmond Vintage collection. Extending this season’s trend for colour blocking through to jewellery is an excellent way to achieve the ostentation couture encourages.
